What is Piles for Windows

Piles logoPiles for Windows simplifies access to recently modified files in any directory you select. Access newest files with two clicks!

Piles for Windows create simple list, easily launched from taksbar, containing recently used files from selected folder, and helps you quickly access you newest downloads, documents you worked on lately and any other files you use often.

Piles for Windows is based of excellent idea of Stacks for Mac OS X - and implements it a Windows way.

Simple and easy to use

Using Piles for Windows is very easy - only two clicks are needed to access recently modified files.

Piles for Windows work best when pinned to windows Taskbar - program is designed to be an alternative way of pinning directories. It lets you quickly open recently changed files, but also is capable of easily opening whole directory.

Usage

Basic usage

To open a pile, click on it's icon in Taskbar (remember to pin it first!). Pile will open just above icon, and allow you access 13 recently modified files in selected directory.

Clicking on any item in the list will open selected file in associated program - just as it would open if you double-clicked it in Windows Explorer.

Creating new Pile (method 1)

To create new pile:
- Drag selected directory and drop it on Piles shortcut on desktop,
- When dialog box appears, click "OK",
- Pin newly created shortcut to taskbar.

Creating new Pile (method 2)

To create new pile:
- Right-click on any pinned Pile in Taskbar,
- From menu, select "Create new Pile",
- In dialog box, select directory and name. Click "OK".
- When dialog box appears, click "OK",
- Pin newly created shortcut to taskbar.

Delete a Pile

To delete a pile:
- Right-click on any pinned Pile you want to delete,
- Select "Delete Pile" from menu,
- In dialog box, click "OK"
- Now you can safely delete shortcut to Pile.

Integrate with Windows Explorer

To integrate Piles with Windows Explorer:
- Right-click on main Pile in Taskbar,
- Select "Integrate with Shell" from menu,
- In dialog box, click "OK"
-Now, to create pile from dicrectory, right-click on it and select "Create pile from Folder"

Remove Windows Explorer integration

To remove Piles integration:
- Right-click on main Pile in Taskbar,
- Select "Remove integration" from menu,
- In dialog box, click "OK"
-Now, to create pile from dicrectory, right-click on it and select "Create pile from Folder"

Updating Piles for Windows

To update Piles for Windows:
- Click on "Update Piles", program called "Updater" will start.
- On the next window, wait for program to say "Finished Updating" or "No Updates Found"
- Click "Close"
- Click "OK"

If clicking on "Update Piles" doesn't run "Updater", download new version from this site and proceed as described above.
